About AikiLife Dojo - Aikido and Japanese
AikiLife Dojo is an Iwama Ryu Aikido dojo and Japanese cultural centre in Phillip, in Canberra's Woden Valley. The dojo has built a devoted community over many years, offering a calm, respectful training space where students of all ages learn this traditional Japanese martial art.
The dojo's philosophy centres on non-aggression, non-resistance and non-competitiveness, making it as much about character and mindfulness as physical technique. Long-time students describe it as a hidden treasure with a beautiful space and community, and classes cater to a broad range of ability, experience and mobility, from young children through to older adults.
Beyond the mat, AikiLife integrates Japanese culture and language into its junior program, and the centre is also used for cultural pursuits. Whether you are an adult seeking a thoughtful, non-competitive martial art, a parent wanting a calm and enriching activity for your child, or someone interested in self-defence, AikiLife offers a uniquely holistic approach to movement and discipline in Canberra.
