About Asia Pacific Self Defence

Asia Pacific Self Defence is a martial arts and self-defence school based at the Centenary Community Hub in Mount Ommaney, teaching Korean Hapkido alongside integrated combat and self-defence systems. More than a place to learn technique, it is run as a community, with instructors known for their patience, genuine care and dedication to building resilience and confidence in their students.

Classes run across clearly structured age groups, from young children through teenagers to adults, so families can train together and progress through grading at their own pace. Hapkido itself covers a broad range of skills, including kicks, strikes, joint locks, throws, grappling and weapon defence, giving students practical self-defence ability as well as strength, coordination and discipline.

Led by an instructor with decades of Australian Army service, the school places strong emphasis on values, respect and looking after its community, including free community self-defence courses and generous discounts for veterans, emergency-services personnel and their families. It suits anyone in Brisbane's western suburbs, especially families, looking for a welcoming and well-organised place to build self-defence skills and personal confidence.
