About Brian Mackie's Karate South Perth

Brian Mackie's Karate is a traditional Goju-Kai karate dojo training out of the Manning Community Hall in South Perth, carrying on a lineage that traces back to 1966. The school is affiliated with the WA Karate Federation, the Australian Karate Federation and the International Goju-Kai Association, grounding its teaching in authentic technique, discipline and respect.

Classes build strength, flexibility and focus across all ages and belt levels, with dedicated beginner juniors, advanced juniors and adult sessions. Families describe a school that balances genuine discipline with fun, where children grow in confidence, coordination and resilience over years of training rather than weeks.

Instruction is led by long-serving senseis who have trained together for decades and compete and officiate at club and state level. For newcomers in the Manning area, the dojo offers an approachable entry point into a martial art with deep roots, where the emphasis is as much on character and perseverance as it is on physical skill.
