About Emorio Capoeira

Emorio Capoeira brings the rhythm, movement and community of Brazilian capoeira to Redfern, training out of a studio on the second floor of the Aboriginal Dance Theatre on Gadigal Land. Capoeira blends martial arts, acrobatics, music and dance into one expressive practice, and Emorio approaches it "with a difference" — meeting each student where they are and working around their individual limitations rather than forcing a single mould.

The atmosphere is genuinely welcoming, and beginners are encouraged to give it a go regardless of background or fitness level. Students describe a friendly, supportive environment where the focus is as much on having fun and connecting with others as it is on getting fit.

For anyone in inner Sydney curious about a discipline that builds strength, coordination and confidence while teaching the culture and movement of capoeira, this small, personable group offers an accessible way in. Reaching out by phone or text tends to get a quick reply, making it easy to find out about upcoming sessions.
