About Kobudokai Australia

Kobudokai Australia is a Mount Gravatt dojo dedicated to the authentic transmission of traditional Japanese martial arts, with a focus on classical weapon arts rather than modern sport or competition. The school preserves centuries-old curricula taught through kata, emphasising precise technique, discipline and the lineage that connects students directly to Japanese teaching traditions.

Unlike a typical commercial gym, the emphasis here is on depth of practice and faithful study under experienced guidance. Training is structured around the careful, repeated refinement of forms, making it a serious environment for those drawn to the cultural and technical heritage of koryū budo.

The dojo welcomes committed adult practitioners regardless of prior martial arts experience, offering a considered, mentored path of study. It suits anyone in the Brisbane area looking beyond fitness-trend training toward a disciplined, tradition-grounded practice rooted in classical Japanese swordsmanship and weapon arts.
