About Kobukai Aikijutsu

Kobukai Aikijutsu is a traditional Japanese martial arts dojo training out of the Scarborough Community Hub, where students learn the principles of Aiki through structured, partner-based practice. Rather than focusing on choreographed sequences, classes explore how intent, timing and structure shape what a training partner feels, giving the art a depth that keeps long-term students engaged year after year.

The club covers a genuinely broad curriculum, including throws, locks, pins and weapons work such as sword, staff (jo) and knife, alongside kata. There is no competition or performance pressure, so the environment stays relaxed and respectful while still offering plenty to learn. Members consistently describe a supportive community of experienced senior students who make training both welcoming and rewarding for newcomers and veterans alike.

Led by a highly experienced senior instructor with decades on the mat, the dojo caters for all levels and places real value on clear instruction and quality time with each technique. For anyone in Scarborough and Perth's western suburbs drawn to authentic, traditional martial arts with a friendly club feel, Kobukai Aikijutsu offers a thoughtful and genuinely community-minded place to train.
