About Seishin Kai Iaido

Seishin Kai is a long-running Iaido club in Kew, celebrating 24 years of practice in 2026 and dedicated to the Japanese art of drawing and cutting with the sword. Iaido is a precise, meditative discipline that develops focus, posture and controlled movement, and the club offers Melbourne's eastern suburbs a rare chance to learn it within an established, accredited setting.

Training is grounded in tradition and guided by senior instructors accredited through the Australian Kendo Renmei, all of whom hold Working With Children certification. The club explicitly welcomes prospective new students and encourages people to come along and observe or join a session, signalling an accessible, beginner-aware approach despite the depth of the art.

Sessions run from the 1st Kew Scout Hall on Willsmere Road, a venue with ample on-site and on-street parking for both bikes and cars and good public transport links via several bus routes. For adults in Kew and the surrounding suburbs drawn to a contemplative martial art that blends physical discipline with mental focus, Seishin Kai offers an authentic and welcoming home to begin or continue their Iaido journey.
