About TSKF Playford Shotokan Karate Dojo

TSKF Playford Shotokan Karate Dojo brings traditional Shotokan karate to Elizabeth Park, training out of the Playford Scout Hall in Adelaide's north. As part of the Tanaka Shotokan Karate Federation and affiliated with the International Shotokan Karate Federation, the dojo follows the classical lineage of founder Gichin Funakoshi and Master Nakayama, with a heritage stretching back more than fifty years.

The club offers karate training and competition opportunities to both children and adults, operating with an open-door policy that welcomes newcomers regardless of experience. Students develop the foundational kihon, kata and kumite of Shotokan in a disciplined yet supportive setting, building fitness, focus and self-confidence alongside technical skill.

As a not-for-profit organisation, TSKF Playford is driven by a genuine love of the art rather than commercial goals. Members benefit from international connections, including annual visits and gradings led by senior Japanese instructors, and from pathways into state and world-level competition. For families and individuals in Elizabeth Park seeking authentic, traditional martial arts instruction, the dojo offers a welcoming and grounded place to begin or continue their karate journey.
