WA Social Dancers Association

WA Social Dancers Association is a not-for-profit community dance group based in Shenton Park, dedicated to getting people moving, connecting and having fun on the dance floor. Centred on Modern Jive, one of the easiest partner dance styles to pick up, the association welcomes complete beginners and seasoned dancers alike to learn spins, dips and smooth footwork set to popular music.

Run in partnership with iDance Perth at the Shenton Park Community Centre, the group blends structured lessons with a genuinely social atmosphere. Modern Jive draws on swing, salsa and rock and roll, and because it is so adaptable, dancers can apply what they learn to a wide range of music and settings. The friendly, low-pressure environment makes it a welcoming entry point for anyone who has always wanted to learn to dance but felt unsure where to start.

Beyond weekly classes, the association hosts a monthly dance party that opens the floor to multiple partner-dance styles, giving members a chance to practise, socialise and celebrate their progress.
