About Barbara Todd Ballet

Barbara Todd Ballet is one of Tasmania's longest-running ballet schools, teaching in Sandy Bay since 1961. Founded by a former Royal Ballet Company dancer, the school has built a lasting legacy in Hobart's dance community and remains a place where classical technique is passed down with care across generations of students.

Training follows the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and is delivered by fully qualified, registered teachers. The emphasis is on strong foundations, safe dancing and injury prevention, so students develop technique progressively rather than being pushed beyond their stage. Classes welcome both casual dancers who simply love to move and those with more serious aspirations.

With programs starting from kinder age and continuing as students grow, the school suits families in the Sandy Bay and greater Hobart area looking for structured, syllabus-based ballet in a supportive and well-established setting. It is a particularly good fit for young beginners taking their first steps as well as students wanting a recognised classical pathway with a respected local history.
