About Cairns Aikido Aiki Kai Freshwater Dojo

Cairns Aikido Aiki Kai Freshwater Dojo is a traditional Aikido school based at the Freemasons Centre in Freshwater, on the northern beaches side of Cairns. As part of the Aiki Kai Australia network, the dojo teaches authentic, traditional Aikido, a Japanese martial art centred on blending with and redirecting an opponent's energy rather than meeting force with force. It is widely regarded as offering some of the most skilled and dynamic Aikido in Far North Queensland.

The dojo runs separate junior and adult classes across the week, making it a genuine option for the whole family. Reviewers describe a friendly, welcoming environment that suits kids, beginners and advanced adults alike, and note it as the closest traditional Aikido available in the region. Beginners and visitors are encouraged to come along and watch or take part.

For anyone in the Freshwater area drawn to a martial art that builds coordination, calm focus and self-defence skill without relying on aggression, this dojo offers structured instruction in a supportive setting. The mix of junior and adult sessions, the traditional grounding and the welcoming culture make it a strong starting point for newcomers and a serious training home for those wanting to progress through the grades.
