About Eastern Suburbs Physical Culture

Eastern Suburbs Physical Culture brings the uniquely Australian tradition of physie to Malabar and the surrounding eastern suburbs. Flourishing for over a century, physie blends jazz, ballet, contemporary and aerobic dance with elements of gymnastics, yoga and Pilates into an energetic, full-body workout set to fresh choreography each year.

This is movement built around community as much as fitness. Classes run across multiple local venues and welcome a remarkably broad span of ages, from preschoolers and juniors through to adult ladies, making it the kind of activity families can share across generations. The focus on core strength, coordination and fitness comes wrapped in the camaraderie of learning routines together and the buzz of working towards performances and competitions.

Affiliated with the BJP, the club offers a supportive, inclusive environment where newcomers are encouraged to give it a go regardless of dance experience. For locals after a sociable, structured way to stay active that doesn't feel like a standard gym session, physie in the eastern suburbs offers something with real heart, history and energy.
