About Queer as Foxtrot

Queer as Foxtrot is a same-sex ballroom dancing community based in Melbourne, with classes held in Fitzroy and events in the inner west. Built specifically for the LGBTQI+ community, it offers a safe, supportive and genuinely fun space to learn partner dancing without the assumptions of traditional ballroom settings.

The focus is firmly on inclusivity and connection. Group classes welcome dancers of every level, and instruction is offered in a way that helps newcomers feel at home from their very first night on the floor. Beyond the technical side of learning to dance, it is the warmth of the group and the sense of belonging that regulars highlight most.

Throughout the year the community also hosts regular social dance parties and nights, complete with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where people can put their skills into practice and meet others. For anyone in Melbourne looking for great exercise, a new social outlet and a welcoming queer-friendly space, Queer as Foxtrot offers all three in one.
